Background + Approach
I bring a narrative lens to interiors, styling spaces and objects through use, restraint, and editorial decision-making.
Merie’s affinity for interiors began in childhood, trailing her father, an engineer, through New York City’s construction sites. Those visits offered an early glimpse into the systems and structures that bring buildings to life. Summers spent in Europe later expanded that lens, with encounters like Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel deepening her sensitivity to scale, nuance, and atmosphere.
This sensibility guides her practice. Each project is approached as a personal atelier, where light, materiality, and space are composed into work that honors both place and the enduring meaning of objects beyond their material value. With a meticulous, unconventional eye, Merie creates interiors that invite discovery — layered, characterful, and shaped by artful restraint.
Educated in Interior Design at Parsons, The New School, and holding dual degrees in Psychology and Sociology, Merie brings both aesthetic and behavioral insight to her work. Her home and design projects have been featured in Dwell, with expertise highlighted in The Strategist and other publications.
She is the writer of Section Plane, an independent project exploring the emotional and material logic of interiors and everyday living.
